What does a service include?

  •  Full visual inspection of the boiler, pipework, flue route and controls
  •  Gas pressure, combustion and flue-gas safety checks
  • Testing of all safety devices and a gas-tightness check
  • Cleaning of basic service components, including the condensate trap and filters (and system filter if fitted)
  • Internal visual inspection of key components, including the heat exchanger and seals
  • Clear advice if a full strip-down clean would improve performance (quoted separately if needed)
  • Checks for leaks, corrosion and early signs of failure
  •  Final performance and operation check to ensure safe, reliable running
  • Inhibitor level check (where accessible) with advice if top-up or treatment is needed
  •  Service record or certificate completed before I leave

Why regular servicing matters...

  •  Reduces the risk of breakdowns and costly repairs
A yearly check helps catch worn parts, minor leaks and early signs of failure before they turn into expensive faults or full boiler replacements.
  •  Helps maintain boiler efficiency and lower running costs
Cleaning key components, checking combustion and ensuring correct operating pressures all help the boiler burn fuel more efficiently — saving you money over the year.
  • Supports manufacturer warranty requirements
Most boiler warranties state that annual servicing by a Gas Safe engineer is essential. Having a service record protects your warranty and avoids disputes if a part fails.
  • Ensures safe combustion, ventilation and flue safety
A service checks the flue, burner performance and combustion results to make sure the boiler is operating safely and not producing dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.
  • Keeps the boiler running smoothly as it ages
Older boilers benefit massively from regular checks, cleaning of traps/filters and monitoring for corrosion. It helps extend the lifespan of the appliance and prevents sudden winter failures.

What I do as your local engineer

  •  I carry out a thorough, structured checklist on every service — safety and combustion checks, pipework and flue inspection, filter and condensate trap cleaning, and a visual heat-exchanger assessment. Nothing rushed and nothing skipped.
  • The service is fully transparent. A basic service covers the essential checks and maintenance; if your boiler would benefit from a full strip-down or deep clean, I’ll explain why and price it separately. No hidden extras and no upselling.
  • You receive all paperwork before I leave — whether that’s a service record, CP12 certificate or inspection notes. Everything is completed properly and ready for your compliance or personal records.
  • If something needs attention, I’ll explain it clearly — the reason, urgency and options. If everything is working as it should, I’ll say that too. Straightforward, professional advice from a local Gas Safe engineer committed to doing the job right.

Frequently Asked Questions

Manufacturers recommend an annual service to keep your boiler running efficiently and safely. It also protects any warranty you have and helps spot issues early — especially important on older boilers, which benefit from regular checks to prevent faults and keep performance steady.

A standard boiler service usually takes around 45–60 minutes. If I spot anything that needs closer attention, I’ll explain it on the day — no surprises. A proper service keeps the boiler safe, efficient and within warranty requirements, and it helps catch developing issues early, especially on older systems.

If I spot a minor issue, I’ll usually sort it during the same visit where possible. If there’s something more significant, I’ll explain exactly what I’ve found, what your options are, and provide a clear, no-obligation quote. You’ll always know the cost and the reason before any further work is carried out.

Yes. I service all major boiler brands, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi and Ideal, as well as most older or discontinued models. With over 10 years’ experience, I’m familiar with the common faults and service requirements across different manufacturers, so your boiler is maintained correctly and safely to the latest standards.

Please make sure the boiler and any gas appliances are accessible, with clear space around them. If you have pets, keeping them secure helps me work safely and efficiently.
